Working strategically with forward-thinking businesses to deliver lasting change
When Cambridge House was founded in 1889 it had the aim of encouraging activists to live and work with their neighbours in one of London’s ‘slum neighbourhoods’. This ethos of collaboration remains at our core today. Overcoming Southwark’s entrenched social problems requires partners who can enhance our impact through a broad range of actions:
1) Staff fundraising and donations
There is nothing quite like fundraising to drive team bonding and healthy competition while contributing to a good cause. To support your efforts we can provide publicity as well as access to our exclusive fundraising materials and charity places at popular events.
Our Safer Renting and Youth and Disabled People’s Empowerment services are predominantly funded by grants. Donations to these services are invaluable as they can provide project security to staff and participants in the context of ever-increasing competition for, and the growing paucity of, public funding.
2) Gifts in kind
Help us to keep our costs low so that we can direct more of our resources to our front-line services. Donations may include:
- Technology to support our office staff and our venue hire services (e.g. laptops, projectors, screens, TVs, mics, amps).
- IT advice to increase our efficiency.
- Advice on how to make our building more environmentally friendly and cut down running costs.
- Arts and crafts materials for our Disabled People’s Empowerment groups.
Employee skills and expertise are a vital resource that can vastly improve other peoples’ lives. Our RISE Youth Empowerment service partners with various local organisations who impart life skills, health and employment advice to our marginalised 16-21-year olds. We are always looking for new partners, so if your staff feel that they have something to contribute to the project please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
- “10/10. A really amazing experience which I would recommend to everyone” (Credit Suisse Volunteer)
4) Hiring our rooms
At Cambridge House your meetings have a social impact. Hiring our meeting and event rooms or, even better, deciding to rent an office in Cambridge House provide us with the resources needed to deliver our frontline services, making a difference where we are needed most.
